BC "Comedy Night at St. Paul's" a Roaring Success

Bishop Canevin High School celebrated the holiday season with students, faculty, alumni and friends in O'Connor Hall at St. Paul Seminary on Thursday night, December 22 with a special event -
"Comedy Night at St. Paul's."The event featured two Bishop Canevin alumni - national stand-up comedian Jesse Joyce '96, home for the holidays from New York City, and Tim Dimond '04, Carnegie Mellon University's Mr. Fraternity.
"I was really proud to be able to come back and help Bishop Canevin," said Jesse Joyce. "It was surreal to crack jokes around my old teachers without getting into trouble."
The all-profit event raised over $1,000 for Bishop Canevin High School, thanks to both comedians volunteering their time and talents free-of-charge.
Tim Dimond opened the show and performed self-written comedy songs with the accompaniment of an acoustic guitar. Dimond's performance was highlighted by a song written, exclusively for the show, about long-time Bishop Canevin teacher Mr. Fazio and his "Clorox Bleach Medley," an upbeat, spoken-word style compilation of several well-known rap songs such as Ludacris' "What's Your Fantasy," 50 Cent's "In Da Club," and Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back."
Jesse Joyce followed with an hour-long stand-up routine. In his act he discussed topics that ranged from his day's at Bishop Canevin and Duquesne University to living in New York City. After the show Joyce signed autographs and sold copies of his new debut comedy album, "Joyce to the World." The album, which was recorded live at
Comedy off Broadway in Lexington, KY, is available at

Seen at the event: Principal Sinagra, Sr. Judy, Teachers - Mr. Fazio, Mr. Jacoby, Mr. Lesifko, Mr. Schlicht, Mr. O'Connell, Rita Yunker and Ms. Lavrinc, and singer/songwriter Justin Morris of the band Mercury.
Jesse Joyce has already confirmed that he would like to make this a regular event.
